The drilling of now six geothermal wells to be undertaken by project partner Daldrup & Söhne are part of SWM’s ambitious plan to make Munich Germany’s first major city to generate 100 percent of its district heating from renewable energies by 2040. The biggest portion of that heating is to be generated by hot thermal water. Munich is located on top on top of vast supplies of this environmentally friendly energy source, which is contained in easily permeable layers of limestone that are part of the geological layers underneath the city.

Some of Apple's renewable energy projects include the solar panels on the roof of Apple Park, its newest campus, 485 megawatts of wind and solar projects across China, solar facilities in Reno, Nevada and Maiden, North Carolina, more than 300 rooftop solar systems in Japan, and an 800-rooftop renewable energy system in Singapore.

So far, Canada’s record of implementing effective climate policy is a shambles. Federal Environment Commissioner Julie Gelfand and auditors general of nine provinces just co-authored a study showing how every single plan has failed to meet carbon reduction targets. The Rio commitment in 1992 and Kyoto in 2005 have both come and gone. The federal government no longer speaks of Canada’s 2020 emission target made in Copenhagen that we will overshoot by some 20 percent.

Mercedes-Benz is making progress with its new GLC F-Cell vehicle. The new hydrogen-powered SUV has been under development for some time, with Mercedes-Benz beginning commercial production on the new vehicle in late 2017. Mercedes-Benz believes that its new fuel cell vehicles will be significantly more advanced than those being offered by competitors. This is because the automaker’s vehicles will be powered by advanced fuel cell technology, which is the result of extensive research and development efforts.

Poor Climate Change Action in Canada Auditors General March 2018

Canada has missed two separate emission reduction targets (the 1992 Rio target and the 2005 Kyoto target) and is likely to miss the 2020 Copenhagen target as well. In fact, emissions in 2020 are expected to be nearly 20 percent above the target.
