Florida's new bill will allowed private companie to lease rooftop solar equipment to homeowners without being considered a public utility under the Commission’s jurisdiction. The leased equipment will generate electricity for personal use and push excess production through their meter to their local utility.

In additon to this in May of 2017 Florida also passed a bill that will provide tas breaks for resdential properties installing renewable energy.
