Spikes in sea temperatures stress marine ecosystems, particularly coral reefs

It’s not just global air temperatures that are heating up. Ocean heat waves are happening more frequently and lasting longer, too—potentially a major threat to coral reefs and other marine organisms, according to new research. This is, in turn, threating a large world food source.
